Engle served in the 377th Field Artillery Battalion and the 101st Airborne Division. His service ID was 33496778. His rank was also Private First Class. Above is the helmet they wore.
Engle went to England in September of 1943 to train for Operation Overload. He was stationed at Benham Valance near Newbury England.

On D-Day, his battalion had to destroy a German battery of four 122mm howitzers and secure the 101st northern flank but they lose some things and ended up losing 11 of their 12 howitzers. He was killed when he was shot down parachuting in to help soldiers land.
Engle is buried on Plot B Row 8 Grave 12.
